I graduated from the University of Florida, the Air Force Institute of Technology, the Air Command and Staff College, and the Naval War College. I have taught a variety of subjects (math, leadership, customer service, national security studies, emergency management, and more) at a number of different universities. I truly enjoy helping students (young and old) gain an understanding of the subjects, which I teach. I am always available to my students (past and current) to provide advice and assistance. I have been certified by multiple organizations in a wide variety of subjects. I want to note that I have a son with severe ADHD; have worked with the IEP Program for 12 years; and understand the Americans with Disabilities Act.
My ultimate goal is to help students improve their math skills and become successful in school and in life. I am a patient and thoughtful instructor, who believes that every student is important and I will take as much time as required to help my students gain understanding of difficult problems.

Career Development

I have spent my entire professional career helping individuals understand their self-worth; their aspirations; and the avenues open to them to achieve their goals. As a senior military officer, I worked with young enlisted and officers to provide them with opportunities for growth. During my years of teaching (at the high school; junior college; and college levels), I have continued to work with students to help them focus on their goals and work to provide them opportunities to achieve their dreams. Today, as a Professor at the University of Nevada, I work with Crisis & Emergency Management Graduate Students to find them organizations where they can intern to gain real-world experience. I have been very successful in placing people in roles that are compatible with their personal/professional goals. I never give up on any person. I teach people to be winners.

Public Speaking

I was the Executive Director of the FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association for 10 years. As such, I was required to make numerous public speeches on behalf of the FBI and other law enforcement organizations. I am articulate and can speak with a written script. I believe that any speech beyond 10 minutes is probably wasting the audience's time. I speak in a clear, precise, and brief language. I enjoy being in-front of people and giving speeches.

Patient and informative

My son is joining the Air Force and I looked for the best tutor I could find which was Sanford. The ASVAB is a difficult test and with Sanford ‘s background and experience we knew he could guide my son. He explains things in a way that makes it simple to understand. He also tutors in other subjects, and works with students who could have learning challenges, which would be my son. Glad we found him.
