Heather does her best to make the course material straightforward, but the issue is that the midterm and final were memorization heavy in a course which is not geared towards memorization in delivery or content. Engage with TAs and get a consistent study group, lectures will not carry you through this class. Final was kinda tough, not bad overall.

Prof. Robertson is a great lecturer who is very knowledgeable and passionate in her field. She is very approachable and made ARCL 228 a great experience for me personally even though this was my first anthropology course.

Tries to make content fun, but goes on tangents so often that the point is gone. Project (with unclear rubric and directions!) was only available during the last week of term when everything piled up. Maybe not great if you know that you'll be taking tough courses with projects and finals -- not very considerate with extensions.

This was for ARCL 103. Easy class, lots of content and memorization. Midterm was easy. Dr Robertson is very personable and her lectures are easy to follow. Tutorials require attendance for half of the semester. There's homework each week but it's very easy. Textbook definitely helps you solidify the topics. Content can be dry at times.

wonderful and very knowledgeable prof, really cares about students and their understanding of the course material. fun and quirky, but lectures can be quite fast and dense. lots of memorization, but exams are easy enough if you study

The class was pretty good but very memorization heavy (duh). The jump from the midterm to the final was extremely drastic as at least I found the final much much more difficult. Heather kept the lectures entertaining and was very nice and ready to help.

Overall I enjoyed this class to meet my science requirement. The lectures are recorded, the textbook is really needed that much, and there are a lot of small assignments that really help boost your mark. The midterm and final were the only hard parts about this class.

Took ANTH 202. I truly enjoyed all the reading material/course topics, but unfortunately I did not find Heather to be a very good prof. Assignments were repetitive & not clearly outlined, and often points were docked without an explanation. Also, the midterm was a mess and she gave some students a chance to retake it, which doesn't seem fair.

Heather is a nice prof who cares about her students and loves what she teaches. I liked that 45% of the grade is assignments. The discussions were really helpful because we would work on the assignments in class and could ask the TA questions. She also offered her class over Zoom. I found that the final is a lot harder than the midterm.

Near the end of the course, we started getting into the different hominins, so Heather would often go over time. However, she made the content from the textbook as condensed as possible in her slides, which made the key takeaways much clearer and easier to understand. Assignments and the midterm were fairly easy, but be prepared for the final!

she clearly cares about what she teaches and the students. Very lecture heavy, but content was interesting. Prepare for insane memorization. The midterm was ok but final was brutal (MC, short ans, long ans). The assignments and prep slides she had did not prep me for it at all. Marking for assignments + what we should know for finals was so vague.

Dr. Robertson is nice and the class content is tolerable if wanting to get science credits but her lectures were not engaging. She pauses with too many "ah's" and I found it difficult to pay attention as she can get off track.

Dr. Robertson was a great lecturer. She made the content very accessible and easy to understand, and the grading breakdown was very fair. She's also just a lovely person and it shows through in the way she teaches.

Engaging professor, is aware when the material is dry and tries to make it fun. Sometimes goes on unproductive tangents but it's not super distracting. It was easy to get good marks on the assignments but the exams were absolutely awful. It's worth checking in with the TA's and her to be clear on what's expected for the exams.

She's a really funny and engaging lecturer, but not always a great prof. When I asked her questions prior to the midterm she told me to refer to the post she made, which barely had any info. Midterm was worth 20% and the average was in the 50s. Marking was also very slow throughout the year

There's a lot of reading and not a lot of guidance on what to pay attention to. When you ask her questions, she often contradicts herself (flustered) or seems hesitant as if giving the info would be giving something away (not helpful for learning). The midterm seemed reasonable until the grades came back, everyone did worse than expected.

I got a decent grade in this class, but it was a mess. It was Robertson's first time teaching it, so that might have been 1 of the factors behind the lack of organization, but it was too chaotic for excuses tbh. A lot of the assignments seemed unnecessary, grades were consistently handed back late, and marking didn't make sense. Wouldn't recommend.

The course has a lot of memorization, which sucks because DrRobertson often runs out of time. Assignments were done in-class. The grading will definitely bring down your GPA because they give you no rubrics and take marks off for the most specific things. She is nice, but the grading is so messy. Take this course with another prof PLEASE.
