Dr. Tiani's slides aren't very organized, which was really difficult to study. Tiani doesn't test solely on lecture content, so you have to be sure that you understand supplemental material like the homework problems. I appreciated that he was accessible outside of class, but he can be condescending/rude in office hours, so just be aware of that!

Great professor!Nice and accessible, offers plenty of office hours and extra credit. Is knowledgable and will answer your questions. Clear about everything- doesn't offer practice exams but lectures and reading materials are very direct and everything is easily accessible and organized.

I was nervous to take Tiani but didn't find anything wrong with him. ULAs were helpful & his exams are fair. Tho the book is dense and indirect so rely mainly on his annotated slides and ULA practice. His exams are not very long so don't make silly mistakes (like I did lol). And he does reuse questions, so study with friends' old exams if you can!

Dr. Tiani is a great lecturer whose slides and course schedule are very organized and well-planned. Read the textbook, take notes of everything during lecture, and attend ULA sessions and you'll do well. Exams are very fair and the homework is easy if you do the reading!

Good lecturer, makes it clear what is expected of you on tests. Good about providing reminders for due dates. I thought the class was structured well and the slides showed important material from the textbook. No practice exams so use PM sessions as that. There is a textbook but you'll be fine with slides and practice.

Your grade for 241L is dependent on your TA, but Dr. Tiani made a well-organized plan for this course. Everything they are looking for in reports is stated, and there are sheets with information about what to do when writing. He was also accessible and adaptable to changes in the semester.

Dr. Tiani is a good lecturer. If you want to do well on the tests, study all of the slides, complete his problem sets, work through the LA slides, and redo the graded homework. Studying for the tests is very time-consuming, so don't procrastinate! He's very condescending in office hours, so be prepared to get insulted even though he will help you.

This class was very doable and the easiest chem class I've taken at UNC. I was able to sneak through while doing basically the bare minimum and am still set to do decently overall. Tests were fair for the most part - but the final was way too long. Dr. Tiani was an okay lecturer, but I agree with the other reviews that say he can be condescending.

As my first Chem class at UNC, this certainly was not a bad one. However, I can say that Dr. Tiani can be often rude and condescending when you ask questions. The exams were fair and his presentations and participation questions helped me prepare for them. You also get one midterm replacement with the final exam, which is nice.

Analytical is not a difficult class as far as UNC chem goes, but Dr. Tiani makes it impossible to ask for help at problem-solving sessions without feeling humiliated. It says a lot that his TAs/grad students are scared of him, and I frankly feel bad for them.

Very present as a lab instructor. He does not determine grading of lab reports; however, is able to get changes out very quickly through messages. No real complaints.

Genuinely one of the meanest, most condescending people on planet earth. He will make you feel absolutely terrible when you ask a question. Constantly told students to walk themselves back to gen chem. Also he always has an ugly/cruel/mean smirk. Least favorite professor in the chem department... that's saying a lot.

The overall course wasn't too bad, the easiest chem course I've taken at UNC. Tiani is friendly but tends to ramble when you ask him questions. I depended on peer mentors for explanations. He is nice, especially if you sit in the front and participate in class and are attentive. The tests are fair and mainly cover what are on his power points.

I'm in Tiani's summer session. Lectures and his online site are very disorganized and hard to follow. He is often rude when people ask questions, saying they would know if they did the reading. He hardly does practice problems in class and only gives conceptual explanations for complicated math problems. Have to teach myself how to do all the math

Overall, I loved Dr. Tiani. I had him for the honors section. Chem102 is difficult, but he makes it a priority to help students. For the honors section, we had a few random assignments, and he graded them pretty difficult, but overall it was a grade boost. The exams were hard but manageable, just stay on top of your work and ask questions.

Tiani was a good lecturer. My only issue with his teaching is that when you'd ask a question, he'd interrupt you to answer the question, but he wouldn't even fully answer the question. However, he does still explain concepts well in lecture. I have also heard from other people in my class that he's condescending, but he was nothing but nice to me.

Tiani is a good lecturer, but dry. He gives a pretty clear outline of what concepts to focus on in the pre-class reading which is helpful for preparing. You definitely need to do the readings thought to succeed in the class. His exams are pretty fair, and he also reuses problems from past exams a lot which is nice.

Dr. Tiani was very straightforward (which could sometimes come off as being rude), but in my experience he's been very nice and pretty humorous. I found the class to be very fair; we didn't really find things on the exam that we didn't cover. The peer mentor sessions helped me a lot! I found this class better than general chemistry classes.
