From what I had, you were required (and I advise you) to go to every lecture to learn the material. Even though you can get the lecture notes from others, Amsterdam's lectures are so good that you retain the information so much better. He's very caring and wants the best for everyone. Had a great time.

Professor Amsterdam is actually a really good professor. He's extremely passionate about his area of teaching, but his exams can be a bit tricky since a lot of the answer choices are the same so it's important to memorize details of specific events. He's also lecture heavy and doesn't post any notes after class, so you have to be there.

He is a great professor and very passionate about his lectures. If you go to lecture and listen, you will do well in the class. The tests are pretty easy (multiple choice) if you pay attention. He does not post notes or recordings for lecture so make sure to go.

Amsterdam is good at packing information in a lecture but its way too difficult for a history class at a Tech school. He also posts no lectures notes or anything and 90% of the information is based on what he says in class. The test questions have very odd answers and often have questions that are based on 1 sentence that was said in class.

If you like history, you will love this class. If you don't, prepare to have to study A LOT for the midterms and final. Mr. Amsterdam likes what he teaches and he does it well, but prepare to have to study a lot.

Prof Amsterdam is amazing!!! His lectures are interesting and very easy to understand. You read 4 books throughout the semester with an easy 5 question quiz for each. The tests are medium difficulty I would say, as long as you pay attention to the lectures and read the take away points for the short readings you should do well.

Great lecturer. Attendance is not mandatory but I would definitely recommend going to lecture because Dr. Amsterdam is very into everything he talks about. Not many grades, a few midterms and reading quizzes. Amsterdam clearly loves what he does and it shows.

He is a great professor because his lectures are engaging, loves to answer questions even in a large class setting, very straight forward to make an A. Only have midterms and 3 book quizzes. All books can be found online. I also realized he assumes that we have already had US History before.

Prof. Amsterdam is an amazing lecturer, he teaches history as if it's reading a storybook. He includes plenty of details to make the material relevant to the modern day and our lives. He makes it very clear what you need to know in order to pass with an A. Very little work outside of lecture as long as you pay attention.

He will lecture all class, but is engaging and says what key words to remember for the test. I struggled on the first test because I was mixing up my facts, and asked if he could fact check my definitions after that, and he did. He is very nice, and helps you if you need it. It can be a lot of content at times, so just take good notes and study.

I would do anything for Daniel Amsterdam. Hands down my favorite HTS prof at Tech (I'm an HTS major). He's incredibly caring, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. He really cares to make the work load reasonable, and succeeds. He also legitimately wants you to learn and succeed. He managed to make "research methods" an absolute blast so props.

Dr. Amsterdam is one of my favorite profs. I was dreading this required course but he made it legitimately fun, and was an extremely caring guy with a lot of respect for us. The class was definitely a decent bit of work, but I learned more than I expected to, and an A is very achievable, especially if you ask for help. Honestly a blast, 10/10.

Very minimal work for a GT class. His lectures are outstanding and are crucial for hitting marks on exams. Amsterdam's class was a rare instance in which I enjoyed learning history. My advice is to fill out the definitions from his study guides right after each class.

Overall a great lecturer and a good guy. Also, the class is really easy- the only homework is 1-3 page readings for classes and 3 1-2 page "papers" throughout the semester which are essentially an automatic 100 if you do them. You have to go to class though bc notes are not posted online, but lectures are interesting and usually have a 5 min break

Dr. Amsterdam understands most students take this class for the sake of the credit. He, therefore, makes it really interesting and the lectures are full of relevant jokes. He also has very few homework assignments. If you have a good study guide, it is an easy A.
